American Helicopter Shot Down over Afghanistan LCDR Romo 0 Comments · 0 Likes · Like · 24th Nov 2019 CNN NEWSSaturday afternoon, at approximately 1420 local time , an American UH-60 carrying 8 personnel from the United States Army's 95th Civil Affairs Brigade as well as a female Red Cross volunteer was shot down over the Yakawlang District of Afghanistan. US drone footage showed three out of the nine individuals in the vehicle be loaded into a pickup truck, visibly alive. Only one of these people were identified, and that is Kimberly Fisher, a Red Cross volunteer from Seattle, Washington. This district of Afghanistan has received growing influence from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Khorasan Province (ISIL-K). During a clash between the Taliban and United Front forces pre-9/11, many civilians were left homeless and children were left orphaned, creating an environment perfect for breeding Jihadists. ISIL-K's movement out of Khorasan and into other districts of Afghanistan is being tracked by USJSOC and US intelligence agencies. Negotiations for the recovery of the bodies of the deceased and the 3 injured survivors have begun between the United States and ISIL-K.
